The Vision

This project is an unannounced 2.5D tactical creature collector, currently being built from the ground up in Godot 4.6. It aims to bridge the gap between deep, deterministic strategy games and the long-term progression of monster-catching RPGs.

The Overworld

Visually, the overworld adopts a rich aesthetic blending vibrant 3D environments with expressive 2D sprite characters. The world is designed to be highly readable but atmospheric, utilizing modern lighting, depth of field, and particle systems to breathe life into the pixel art.

The Combat System

Combat transitions seamlessly into a strict, tactical theater. It is a deterministic 2.5D SRPG played out on an 8x8 grid. You command a team of three creatures against enemy factions. The core philosophy of combat is built around zero randomness.

"No RNG in damage, hit resolution, AI decisions, or terrain. If randomness would help something, it gets proposed explicitly. It never sneaks in."

Key Combat Pillars:

  • Fully Deterministic: Same inputs yield the exact same outputs. No misses, no critical hits, no unpredictable damage rolls.
  • Strict Turn Flow: Classic Player Phase into Enemy Phase structure. However, unlike some modern puzzle-tactics games, enemy intents are not telegraphed; you must anticipate their moves.
  • Advanced Headless AI: The enemy forces are driven by a game-tree search operating on a "headless forward model." They simulate the exact same combat code you use, evaluating board states and threat maps to make highly strategic, personality-driven decisions.
  • Deep Interactions: Attacks are pure data, defining targeting shapes and layered effects (damage, statuses like Rooted or Disarmed, and environmental interactions) that resolve predictably through a centralized engine.
